No New Posts ;; the bank

The Bank was a decrepit stone building at the tail end of Houston Street, on the last divide between the gritty East Village and the wilds of the Lower East Side. It was once the headquarters of Van Alen investment and brokerage house. It is an imposing, squat presence, a paradigm of the beaux-arts style, with a classice six-column facade and an intimidating fow of "dentals"- razor-sharp serrations on the pediment's surface. It was empty and abondoned for many years before becoming a night club. It stands on the corner of Houston and Essex. There is a lounge on the top floor. The windows look out on the view of Avenue A.

The Repository is located deep below The Bank. The Bank itself is a fluke. It was empty but people noticed people going in and never coming out so they rented out the top floors.

No New Posts ;; dr. pat's office

In a chrome-and-glass Fifth Avenue tower.
The office is more like the inside of a Miami hotel- the Shore Club or the Delano- than a normal waiting room.
It was all white, white flokati rugs, white tile walls, white lacquer tables, white leather couches, white fiberglass Eames chairs. Several signed and framed photographs from models and actresses hung on the walls.
There is an inner office door that leads to the treatment room.
A carpeted elevator can be taken up to and down from the office. In Dr. Pats office there is a white leather recliner for the patients and a a white Eames fiberglass lounge chair for the doctor.

Located right next door to The Bank. It's an exclusive night club for the city's most beautiful, envied, notorious, and all-powerful citizens.

It was the kind of nightclub that existed only once every decade- at a point in the social nexus when the gods of publicity, fashion, and celebrity converged to create a singularly spectacular environment. It had a clientèle of the city's most envied, notorious, and all-powerful.
It had astronomical membership dues. The most sought-after table was always filled with underage models, movies stars, and children of the rich and famous.

There is a secret back room known as "the Land of Nod". It's where they hid the druggies who had passed out. It has been described as a closet.

No New Posts ;; duchesne

The Duchesne School is housed in the former Flood Mansion on Madison Avenue and Ninety-first Street, on prep-school row, across from Dalton and next to Sacred Heart. It was the former home of Rose Elizabeth Flood, widow of Captain Armstrong Flood, who had founded Floor Oil Company. Marguerite Duchesne, a Belgian governess, educated the Floods' daughters. When the three girls died, Rose bequeathed her home to Marguerite and returned to the Midwest in her grief. Marguerite Duchesne then turned it into her dream institution.

Photographs of each graduating class lines the hallway of the library. The girls still graduated in white tea dresses and gloves, and were presented with garlands of twined ivy on their heads as well as a bouquet of red roses and their diplomas. The boys wore proper morning suits, complete with pearl-tipped pins on their gray ascots.

The school is an odd mix of luxury and penury- a state-of-the-art theater in the basement, complete with auditorium seating for 200, but no locker rooms. This resulted in students changing in the hallway. (But it's okay because they've all known each other since Kindergarten and camaraderie prevails)

The center of NYU is its Washington Square campus in the heart of Greenwich Village. One of the city's most creative and energetic communities, the Village is a historic neighborhood that has attracted generations of writers, musicians, artists, and intellectuals. Beyond the Village, New York City becomes an extension of the University's campus.

One hundred and seventy five years ago, Albert Gallatin, the distinguished statesman who served as secretary of the treasury under President Thomas Jefferson, declared his intention to establish “in this immense and fast-growing city … a system of rational and practical education fitting for all and graciously open to all.”

At that time, 1831, most students in American colleges and universities were members of the privileged classes. Albert Gallatin and the University’s founding fathers planned NYU as a center of higher learning that would be open to all, regardless of national origin, religious beliefs, or social background.

No New Posts ;; the force townhouse

The Forces live in one of the most sought-after addresses in the city, a luxurious, well-appointed townhouse that covered an entire block across from the Metropolitan Museum of Art.
There is a great marble hallway at the entrance, and there is a book-lined den; it was "A locked door, a special place, where children weren't allowed"

The Townhouse is the residence of Charles, Trinity, Jack, and Mimi force. And recently Schuyler Van Alen has begun to live under the Force roof, along with Anette Force, a cousin to the Force Twins.

The Four Hundred Ball Will Be Taking Place Here!

The historical Headquarters on the American Society is a grand red brick mansion on Park Avenue and Sixty-eight Street.
The society was an organization dedicated to keeping an archive or early American history. The second floor housed a wood-paneled library with a barrel-vaulted ceiling as well as several cosy, clubby rooms ideal for dinner and dancing. It is a popular event space.

No New Posts ;; the llewellyn apartment-penthouse de rêves

Located on East Seventy-Seventh Street. It had a fireplace in 1819 but it had been boarded up for safety; "someone died in there". Located in a palatial apartment building called The Anthetum- one of the oldest, most prestigious addresses in the city. A triplex penthouse on the top floor- the 30th floor, decorated by several different interior designers. Each room is decorated in a "flamboyant, peacock fashion". No expense had been spared, from the floor-standing eighteen-carat gold candelabras in the dining room to the diamond-encrusted soap dishes in the powder room.
There are lowlights in the hallways, the kitchen is stainless steel; there are overhead lamps. There is a Sub-Zero refrigerator; inside there are neatly arranges rows of beverages and drawers of fruit in Tupperware containers and meat.
Bliss has a white princess bed with a fluffy floral comforter, a pale pink rug, a white wicker armoire, a four-story doll house, and a vanity table with theatre lights in her bedroom; there is also a pale green rug.

No New Posts ;; the van alen mansion

One of the Van Alen family's last remaining holdings was the imposing French-style palace on the corner of the leafy 101st and Riverside Drive. Riverside Drive is a scenic Parisian-style boulevard on the westernmost side of upper Manhattan: a grand serpentine route dotted with stately Italian Renaissance mansions and majestic Art Deco apartment buildings.
Made of beautiful gray stone, it had a creaky wrought-iron double door and gargoyles standing guard at the balcony level. But unlike the sparkling refurbished townhouses that surrounded it, the house badly needed a new roof, tiles, and a coat of paint.

The great hall is dark and musty with Persian rugs {so old and rare, but covered with a layer of dust}. There is never any light in the room because, even though there are several large bay windows that overlook the Hudson, heavy velvet curtains always cover the views. Every piece of furniture in the Van Alen home was original and handed down from earlier generations.
Though, being so old, there was no central air. The house was stuffy and covered with tapestries.
There were seven bedrooms, but most were locked and unused, and draped fabric covered most of the heirloom pieces. Schuyler's room, located on the second floor, was small and painted a bright Mountain Dew yellow.

What a better way to waste money than seeing some of the most esteemed actors in sold out plays? You do have box tickets of course, your money could buy you the moon, but you probably helped build the place a lifetime ago.
